Legal requirements for your Wedding Of course for your marriage to be legally recognised and registered in Australia, there are certain documents required to be completed. A ‘Notice of Intended Marriage Form’ needs to be lodged before the ceremony can take place. (Time constraints apply) Birth Certificates, Certificate of Divorce and evidence of the dissolution of any previous marriage by either party must be sighted. If one or both of the parties to the marriage have been born outside Australia or birth certificates are not readily available, passport details issued by the country of birth are accepted to prove identity. You may already be aware of these requirements, however, Ron can assist you in how to obtain the information required. All documentation is lodged with Ron as your celebrant if he is to conduct the ceremony. |
